A hands on practical seminar that discusses the key concepts underlying the main and mostly used International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), allowing the participants to make informed short term and long term financial decisions.

  • Seminar Objectives

    The convergence between the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) & US GAAP followed by the adoption of the IFRS by many countries around the world has rapidly increased the influence of the IFRS worldwide.

     

    IFRS is becoming a common financial language and compliance with these standards is mandatory in many countries including Lebanon for all business enterprises and in preparing financial statements. Therefore, understanding these standards and analyzing financial statements prepared under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is essential for all accounting and finance personnel.

     

    This seminar explains the major IFRSs, the key underlying concepts, the appropriate accounting treatment and briefly the requirements for presentation and disclosure.

     

    Duration: 18 hours spread over 3 days as follows;

    • 1st day - 10 April 2019 - from 8:00 am till 5:00 pm;
    • 2nd day - 11 April 2019 - from 2:00 pm till 6:00 pm;
    • 3rd day - 12 April 2019 - from 2:00 pm till 6:00 pm;

    • IAS 37 - Provisions, Contingent Liabilities & Contingent Assets;
    • IAS 38 - Intangible Assets;
    • IAS 40 - Investment Property;
    • IFRS 15 - Revenue from contracts with customers;
    • IFRS 16 - Leases;

    The seminar is particularly a useful and suitable tool for CFO, financial managers, accountants, finance professionals, financial analysts, external and internal auditors, financial analysts, portfolio managers, securities analysts and investors who would like to understand and apply IFRS in their daily work and in discussions relating to the appropriateness of applying a particular standard in a given situation;

     

    A basic understanding of the principles of double entry or some practical business exposure is required to participate in this seminar with some basic familiarity with the International Financial Reporting Standards.
